With Whanganui and Tongariro National Parks nearby, Phoenix Rise makes a wonderful base for discovering the Ruapehu region. Formerly known as Snowy Waters Lodge Accommodation, the lodge is now also used for wellness treats in addition to private accommodation bookings.
Ski or snowboard at Turoa or Whakapapa, take on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, explore the Old Coach Road, canoe the Whanganui River, journey towards the Bridge to Nowhere or spend the day exploring the landscapes and communities around you.
And if you don't feel like going anywhere? Stay put. Enjoy the grounds, gather around the wood-fired pizza oven, light the brazier and take in the mountain views.

Phoenix Rise has the ability to accommodate a large group in one place, rather than splitting everyone between different holiday homes or hotels.
Book multiple accommodation options to create a private group base where everyone can sleep onsite, while still having communal spaces to eat, relax and spend time together.
At Phoenix Rise, the communal spaces are as important as the bedrooms.
Throw open the bifold doors and move between the lounge and covered outdoor area. Cook together in the generous kitchen. Fire up the BBQ or wood-fired pizza oven. Gather around the brazier as the temperature drops.
Or find your own quiet corner amongst five acres of established grounds.
The gently sloping lawns and established trees provide plenty of room for children to run around, outdoor games and long afternoons spent doing very little at all, with Mt Ruapehu providing the backdrop.

THE OLD NURSES HOME
Character-filled group accommodation for up to 30 guests. $1500 per night.
The heart of Phoenix Rise, the historic Old Nurses Home is made for bringing people together.
A sunny, north-facing open-plan kitchen, lounge and BYO bar create a generous central gathering space, while three sets of bifold doors open onto an extensive covered outdoor entertainment area.
Move easily between indoors and out, cook together, fire up the BBQ or wood-fired pizza oven and finish the evening gathered around the outdoor brazier.
The main space can also be configured for group meetings and events, accommodating up to:

For smaller groups or those looking for a little more privacy, the Doctors Residence provides comfortable, self-contained accommodation alongside the Old Nurses Home.
The open-plan kitchen, dining and living area looks towards Mt Ruapehu, with French doors opening onto an outdoor entertaining area.
Minimum stay: Two nights for weekend bookings and three nights over long weekends.

When booked alongside the Old Nurses Home, the Doctors Residence provides another kitchen and lounge, giving larger groups valuable extra space. It can work particularly well as a quieter area, somewhere for children or teenagers to hang out, or as a separate breakout space for group or corporate stays.

Yes. The Old Nurses Home offers meeting and event configurations for groups, including theatre, banquet, classroom and U-shaped layouts. Event set-up charges may apply.

The current accommodation process operates similarly to a holiday home, with guests sent an online check-in link before arrival. Groups of eight or more have historically also received a rooming list so they can allocate sleeping arrangements before arriving. I'd confirm this process will continue under Phoenix Rise before publishing it.
